5. Taco Fusion, Tacofino, Gastown Approx $6 Each- Fish Taco taco- Pork El Pastor taco-Gringa taco-Vegetarian Scrapple taco

Next up I’m headed out to Richmond which is said to be Vancouver’s new Chinatown. I decided I’d go to Aberdeen Shopping Center food court to see what types of Asian cuisine it offers.

6. Sushi $7 CAD
7. Milk Tea with Boom Boom Pearls $5 CAD
Richmond: Vancouver’s Chinatown

8. Fish Tacos, Tacofino Truck, Downtown $6 CAD

Canada is known for its poutine (fries, gravy and cheese) and at Pomme Frites in Downtown Granville street, poutine is taken to a Vancouverite level of asian infusion.

Iconic? What Vancouver is know for food wise? Sushi? Pastry? Looks like you hit up all the tourist places and nothing traditional or interesting.

  2. MartianAlien25 on October 1, 2021 at 7:59 am

  5. Chucho Godinez on October 1, 2021 at 8:05 am

Great video Christine and for the food lovers I must tell you, she just scratched the surface of the food culture in Vancouver, If you love food, ocean, mountains, fresh air and a good mix of cultures, Vancouver is the place to visit, I moved here 22 years ago from Toronto, this is the place I want to live and die.

  6. Mama Food ( By Rahat ) on October 1, 2021 at 8:07 am

    Excellent

  7. ADNAN AKRAM on October 1, 2021 at 8:08 am

0:46 Not vegetarian! it is written Kurobuta pork

  8. Lin Nyunt on October 1, 2021 at 8:08 am

I would travel to Vancouver just for the pastry! It all looked so good!

Wow, Candied salmon! That’s one of the weirdest things I’ve seen in a while.

I didn’t know that Vancouver invented the California roll. Why not call it the Vancouver roll? 🤣

  9. Hispandinavian on October 1, 2021 at 8:12 am

Nice. I hope Canada reopens for tourism again. It’s also a jumping off point for flights to East Asia. Demographically Canada has more ethnic Asians than the US.

  10. Rollo Tomasi on October 1, 2021 at 8:13 am

That seared tuna taco from Tacofino is soooo good.

  11. popom kolid on October 1, 2021 at 8:13 am

  15. Cell Phone on October 1, 2021 at 8:18 am

Delicious and yummy video. Thanks for exploring and sharing some of Vancouver’s unique food.

  16. Nora Dunn on October 1, 2021 at 8:18 am

    OMG I’m hungry. 😉
Poutine is about as Canadian as it gets, and while I’m all for the themed variations that are on offer now that poutine is "en vogue", I do hope that at some point you had a chance to have the original "real deal"….fries, cheese curds, and gravy (and lots of places offer vegetarian gravy too). It’s a baseline experience I generally insist that visitors start with before going with trendy options.
So….if you’ve never had "regular" poutine, then you’ll just have to come to Toronto and I’ll help you with this egregious omission 😛

Stumbled upon your channel, some pretty good suggestions (e.g. Pajo’s)
You remind me of a female Mark Wiens with the expressions #hottake #tellmeimwrong

  23. Jay Kitaguchi on October 1, 2021 at 8:27 am

Going to Vancouver in November (same time, same place for the last 12 years)   6 of us ‘Foodies’ go there every year to test out new places and, of course, visit our fav’s.  For the last few years, I have been researching more and more local / "street food".  And I think there are a few of your suggestions that I would we would like to try out.

  24. david mckesey on October 1, 2021 at 8:28 am

Heading to Vancouver in less than a month. Can’t wait

  25. #Expat Journeys! on October 1, 2021 at 8:28 am

I have to agree. Every time we visited Vancouver from the Philippines🇵🇭. I must have the freshly baked bread and sweets in Granville Island. I was also introduced to my first Greek food in the Vancouver 20yrs ago. Don’t forget the authentic Chinese dishes(where Chinese people eat) in China Town. Find the best dimsun in Richmond or other city closest by. Yes. Sockeye Salmon if you can find one it has unique sweet freshly taste. The fish and chips in Granville is also good. We will visit again this summer 2022 on our way to Toronto. So we are looking forward to eating some crabs and oyster. Just like the San Francisco Fisher man’s area. oh wait! That was Seatle when we had the seafood feast. Just like Singapore we love visiting Vancouver for their food and the ambience (maybe its the weather that is a little funky and unpredictable.) 😘we love Vancouver 💖Looking forward to the thin sliced smoked salmon for breakfast.

uuugh, if it wasn’t a pain to get in and out of vancouver i would go try some of these places

  32. Henry Lee on October 1, 2021 at 8:32 am

Christine, thank you for including me in your discovery; I was happy to share a couple of places with you, especially in frequent utterances of “omg” and “yum.” I hope we’ll have more food experiences when you return in the warm dry season.

1:45 Japadog (Robson): their restaurant location in downtown Vancouver is always busy. When I’m with out-of-town friends, I get either a Kurobuta Terimayo or Kobe Terimayo, with a side-order of black pepper “shaked fries”.

2:00 Bloody `ell, there he is again: is he everywhere?

2:35 Purebread (Gastown): it’s easy to overlook the fact that purebread has *savory* options, because that’s not what most are thinking when the first delicious scents arrive. If you visit in mid- to late-afternoon before they close, the concept might well be: “dessert before dinner.”

4:25 Tacofino (Gastown): *That* reaction to the fish taco.

5:30 Granville Island Public Market: if you can, visit during weekday mornings to early-afternoons. Weekends are very very busy. For donut fans, I highly highly recommend a freshly made honey-dip donut at Lee’s Donuts (no relation). When you return, Edible Canada has innovative local food, and the small but busy Tony’s Fish and Oyster Cafe will satisfy cravings for fried seafood.

10:40 “best tasting food, life-changing experience”. See? Your return is clearly imminent.

11:00 Frites Granville, for their Pad Thai Frites, and your awesome reaction.

12:00 Great to see Pajo’s now at YVR airport.

  33. Cheron Roggen on October 1, 2021 at 8:34 am

The tuna taco looked to die for!! All those lovely ingredients tuna, wakame..yummy!

  34. Nouyi Lee on October 1, 2021 at 8:35 am

Is bonito vegetarian? I thought they are roasted fish flakes.

  35. Let's Get IT on October 1, 2021 at 8:37 am

    That fish 🌮! 😀

May i know when was This video shot ?

  43. Ankit Agarwal on October 1, 2021 at 8:44 am

Bonito is fish flakes right? then what’s the use of asking for a vegetarian one if there is still non-veg food stuff on it. Just saying

  44. Luke Triton on October 1, 2021 at 8:46 am

im from vancouver and found the price for japadog not really worth it, cheaper to buy the items and make it yourself.

  45. Nijo Kongapally on October 1, 2021 at 8:48 am

    vancouver street food video amazing👍😋💯💖😍

  46. Bah Humbug on October 1, 2021 at 8:49 am

  47. Bill Brown on October 1, 2021 at 8:51 am

I will be there in a few weeks and wanted some vegetarian/pescatarian food options. Thank you so much on showing us these places.

  48. Odin son on October 1, 2021 at 8:51 am

I used to go to that Chowder place all the time. Best soup ever. Also, there’s a great burger place right next to it, they sell the best poutine ever, far better than most fast food chains I’ve tried (it’s vegetarian as well).

  49. WTF198 on October 1, 2021 at 8:52 am
