BEST DIET 2021? What Is a PLANT-BASED DIET? Beginner’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition | Doctor ER. ER Doctor Jordan Wagner explains the basics of plant-based diets & vegan diets and if it’s the best diet for you to lose belly fat. With the COVID-19 vaccine rolling out and the new year approaching, the months ahead are looking promising. So what’s the best diet plan for weight loss in 2021? We’ve heard them all, intermittent fasting, plant-based diets, low-carb diets, paleo diets, low-fat diets, Mediterranean diet, Weight Watchers, DASH diet. There seems to be a new fitness and health and wellness plan that pops up every day. Are you looking for vegan gains or vegan recipes? Today I’m going to discussing everything you need to know about plant-based diets and meal prep: from plant-based meaning, plant-based food, plant-based vs vegan, plant-based protein, and more. Plant-based or plant-forward eating patterns focus on foods primarily from plants. This includes not only fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans. It doesn’t mean that you are vegetarian or vegan and never eat meat or dairy. Research has even suggest that a plant-strong diet can combat chronic diseases and dramatically heal your health. However, plant-based diets have raised some concerns over the years such as: How do you prevent deficiencies on a vegan diet? Is plant-based the same as vegan? If you have any medical questions, COVID-19 questions, or even a funny quarantine vlog, send it my way! Thanks so much for watching. Stay healthy, my friends!

My Doctor recommended switching to a plant based diet to reverse my health problems. So I start tomorrow
I have been whole food-plant based and part I want to say about is motivation. I did some pretty radical things, but I was pretty addicted to many standard foods including fast food. The biggest thing was at the beginning to watch the videos on Youtube. I kept watching them and still to this day but not as much. Mcdougall, Gregor, Fuhrman, Esselstyn. There are many others. Most of their information is accurate and most important it motivates. I track all my food weighing in grams (the smallest possible unit of measure for the most accuracy). Don’t worry about mistakes. We all make them. Just keep going. Perseverance wins! Another thing I did was avoid media that show commercials of food, and videos of the foods. This is a big change many people may not be willing to do. I think it helped. I also avoided driving by fast food places. I rarely make mistakes now. They still happen like I bought dark chocolate. It’s a processed food high in saturated fat so it’s banned. I haven’t since then, which is 2 months ago at least.
4+ years ago I went whole food-plant based for total serum cholesterol which was high at 210 mg/dl. It lowered to 125 mg/dl. I lost 50 lb. Now, I am down 58 lb, 4 years later. I came off blood pressure medication with doctor’s approval and my high resting heart rate, controlled by that bp med, became normal without it.
Find foods you like. There are many recipes and some may have a lot of ingredients but I keep it super simple. 2-3 ingredients for all my stuff. Cooking is easy for many of the meals.
You will enjoy the taste as much as you do the super rich, unhealthy foods now. Taste acclimation happens. Trust me and at least give it a chance. What have you got to lose?
Why people still mix up plant based diet with vegan or vegetarian diet? Plant based diet is when your FOCUS is on eating MAINLY PLANTS, all sorts of vegetable AND fruit, as well as a LITTLE EVERYTHING ELSE, including animal products.
I love this information! Thank you 🙏
Are you allowed to eat peanut butter and or eggs ? Asking for a friend
I’m concerned that having had rnygb, this plan may not work for me, nutritionally speaking.
I am here because i am tired of being fat. Switching my diet now.
Thank you! From ph 🙏
Im Inherently skinny for whatever reason any time I try to eat a lot of food(even meat) I simply dont go gain weight fast. I still look like a skinny and not fit. Im gonna stay with my meat and some veg diet because I think it gives me enough protien to atleast gain weight and enough energy for my blue collar work. The protien of meat is still very important for skinny people like me. I heard a lot from the medical youtube community talking about losing weight to be healthy and fit but no one really talks about skinny people gaining weight to be healthly and fit. I hope the medical community would also consider meat diets for skinny people.
I think the full vegan diet or vegan diet is for anyone that is inherently or metabolically fat(e.g. if you eat meat you easily gain weight which is not the case for inherently metabolically skinny like me)
Wish me luck. I want to really try this cause I was diagnosed with Stage 3 CKD. In God’s help I know I can do this. Thank you very much for sharing this. Stay safe and more power to you Dr. ER Wagner❤❤❤
Is dary free ice cream ok on a plant based diet?
My diet is plant-based for 10 years now. Mostly consist of Whole Food 🙂
I love it
Probase Nutrition uses the best ingredients and all their products are free of any fillers, sugars, colorants and flavors.
Does plant based = vegan?
I have started today, I am concerned about how I will continue losing weight and also gain muscle mass, what things to really eat?
Does it helps in weight loss?
I’m debating but I’m still eating ice cream.
Thank you dr. Very informative.
IAM a new subscriber to your channel IAM over weight and I want to be healthy so how can I get started I have been walking every other night .
Did you say Honey is off the Menu ? Surely not ?
I am ready to eat mostly a plant based diet. my body feels a lot better when I eat fruit and vegetables. I do not crave animal protein whatsoever. I do crave greek yogurt which I get from trader joes.
Hi! I have switched to WFPB due to overthinking bacteria in animal products and processed food, this also causes me to not use cooking oil anymore or added oil or substitute milks or any canned food. I do still eat Cheerios but that’s about as far as “processed” goes for me! Due to being so picky, I can’t eat olives because I can’t grow an olive tree in Everett WA for fresh ones, and I do not like Avocados purely because of the strings in them. Could you make a list of plant foods other than those two things that contain all the necessary oils and acids and fats needed for a regular person and for a pregnant woman. I do like nuts and seeds and veggies and fruit and oatmeal and that has been good for me so far but now I have a baby to feed in me too ! Please help!:)
Doc but what if I want to gain weight on a plant base what do I eat .
I was on a plate based/vegan diet for 20 years hoping it would solve my digestion issues, chronic hives and help with MS. Made me ten times worse. I switched to the Carnivore diet and now I’m enjoying life finally. I hope the vegan diet helps those of you who are starting
I started the vegan lifestyle it’s kind of weird getting used to the taste of plant food but i will get used to it, putting dead things in your body not good started to see that.
I have not tried it yet but I am really wanting to try as of tomorrow.
I was on a vegetarian diet for years then switched to plant based but I’ve always struggled to get enough iron. I have been taking iron tablets for years. I wonder how is it healthy to be taking these supplements?? My age range is only 25-35. Since I went plant based my B12 was so low and had to take injections which sucks. I love the plant based diet and I think I’ve been doing something wrong. I’m going to see a naturopath if they can help me.
What about diabetics and eating 0 cholesterol foods? We can’t eat much fruit, or high glycemic foods like potatoes that turn to sugar once consumed. So what type of vegan diet can I eat? I have made some changes like getting Smart Butter in the green container with 0 cholesterol, Silk unsweetened Almond milk 0 cholesterol, egg beaters 0 cholesterol, plant based cheese 0 cholesterol, plant based hot dogs 0 cholesterol, black beans, broccoli, fresh spinach, carrots, nuts, pistachios, lintels, whole clams, oysters, muscles, and fish. What other plant foods should I eat?
I’m lactose intolerant, have a slow metabolism, constantly bloated, gaining weight, and have gastritis. Thank you for the information for I’ll love to change my diet
Doc, I have endometriosis and I’ve heard that plant based diet is great to cure this illness. I want to know: Can we eat fish? What about sea food? Thank you.
i do a Mediterranean/DASH diet combo and my health is doing great. I hear “plant based is the best” a lot online but also the keto people seem to not be fans of plant based. Part of me really hopes the Keto people are right cause for me its easier to stay away from sugar than meat. But if plant based truly is the best, i hope i have the discipline to do it.
Very useful. Thank you, except you are contradictory on one respect–you say to eat whole foods but at the same time recommend pasta. Pasta is not a whole food.. It’s processed no matter what its core ingredient is.
Is peanut butter allowed?
How much B12 to take daily?
plant based lifestyle
What you eat does not matter nearly as much as people believe. If you study the diets of top athletes of the world you will see that many of them have widely varied diets and some are very restrictive and some arent and some are what Is considered to be horrible. Usain bolt ate 1000 chicken mcnuggets from
Mcdonalds before winning the Olympics. What you eat doesn’t matter much. Your level of activity determines your health.
I have gastroparesis and mthfr gene mutation. I dont absorb folic acid. I throw up almost all my food any recommendations
Have you tried a plant-based diet? 🤔🥗 Let me know your experience below in the comments! ⬇️
With my stomach problems I switched to a plant based diet and now my stomach doesn’t feel like someone is stabbing me and twisting the knife. It’s very scary to start when you were a big meat eater/carnivore but I feel better it’s hard to start but once you get the snowball rolling it gets easier!
Hey, man loves the videos was just wondering that could you tell me or make a video on the options after emergency medicine. Like can I practice internal medicine, or can I at least assist in surgery? Or what other options do I have as an EM physician? Would love to see an answer because I myself want to do EM. Also, do you guys do emergency surgery on your own?
Changing my nutrition has changed my life. Eating healthy is the only way for me.
I’ve always been active and I eat fresh veggies and whole grains. I stay away from red meat but I am a lover of all seafood. I make my own breakfast cereal and use almond milk and I consider anything that comes out of a can as poison to my body. That being said however, I still struggle with my weight. I’ve gotten to the point now where I’m researching if you can gain weight eating vegetables. I would do 15km hikes and look for any hill I could climb. Plus before COVID I was a gym rat. Always working out. Always counting calories. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 8 years ago and am being treated with medication and having regular bloodwork but still the weight comes and goes. My doctor said I should be super thin with what I do but am not. Now I’m getting pain and swelling in my knees. I really don’t know what to do anymore.
The Netflix Documentary The Game Changers shows WFPB diet doesn’t have benefits just in the long run but within a few hours based off of one meal.
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing. đź‘Ť. I see the medical doctors waking up. More in missionary for health and Less greedy. Blessings.
I have autoimmune desease and I’m hoping this will help
I’ve been researching the benefits of plant based diets for my clients- it’s a loooong list!
This video production is too busy…it’s hard to take you seriously.
The only two things that’s holding me back are the lack of knowledge of what do I need to include in order to keep me healthy and the fear of nutrient deficiency (e.g. B12 and others that I have read online)
@doctor ER I’m type 2 diabetic and I’ve been meat free for over 10 days. I’m feeling sleepy 🥱 any suggestions?
Ugh, guys…humans were not meant to live on a plant based diet. Healthy cholesterol levels are necessary for female reproductive health. Men require higher protein in thier diets. After a few years on just plants, most people I’ve seen look and feel awful. They are aged looking and lethargic. The best diet for health and longevity would be either the Mediterranean diet or Japanese diet, hence the regions with the longest living people. If you want to not eat meat, fine. But humans NEED eggs and dairy at least.
