HEALTHCARE TO HEALTH COACH: Why I'm Done with Nursing//My journey from a RN to a Health Coach
Hey guys. This video discusses the frustration that I experienced working in the healthcare industry as a nurse for the last 3 years and my movement towards becoming a health coach. It also introduces the idea of “stewardship” and being good stewards of the body that God has gifted us with. Thanks for watching!

You go girl!!!!
I applaud!!
Good info.
Wow… yessss! This is exactly how I feel. You couldn’t have said it any better!!! I’ve been a nurse for 9 years and through the years have become more and more disappointed in the whole healthcare system. I discovered functional medicine last year for my own personal health issues and it has awaken this new passion in me. I feel like now I can really make a difference, not just pass medication to treat symptoms as opposed to actually getting to the root cause of those symptoms. I felt like there was no hope for me anymore in the healthcare industry, I was getting so sick of it all! Im so happy I found out about this program. I hope to become an NP in the coming years and have my IFM certification as well.
I stumbled across this video today. Bc I have been a nurse for 12 years and have opened my own health coaching (nurse coaching) practice. You just articulated way better them me as to way I made that leap. And this video just reaffirmed my why. Love it.
So you left the legalized sheeppeoplized health slaughter system eh? Bravo.
You raise some interesting points for in-depth discussion but you did not elaborate on how you are "done with nursing". Did you quit your job, set up a Health Coach practice?
You are awesome! Thank you for sharing this information. I’m as well trying to transfer from full time nursing to Wellness/ Health Coaching.
6 to 1 ration is unacceptable. No wonder you wanted out. Way back when I worked in the hospital it was 4:1 rarely 5:1. Intensive care was 2:1 or 1:1 for high acuity. I am a nurse coach too.Hopefully we as nurse coaches can keep people out of the hospital or when they are in the hospital to help them and their families get the most they can out of it to healing. Good work!
Thank you for your honesty! If you feel comfortable answering this question, how is the financial stability with this transition? I’m having a hard time finding resources that cover the financial gain, if any, in health coaching.
Upleveling your career is never too easy but it’s worth it when you know you’re worth it.
Good perspective. Where have you found "Nurse coach" jobs? So far everything is wellness or health coach that does not include the specific nursing insight we could offer. I would love to know.
I am wanting to become a holistic health coach. Should I become an RN first or just get certified as a holistic health coach?
GOOD LUCK and Success <3
I found your video because I’ve been looking for others in the nursing field with similar beliefs about the healthcare field. I’ve worked in many types of settings in healthcare and I have thus far been extremely disappointed because it has not turned out to be what I expected. Basically everything you have said in your video I can say is EXACTLY what I’ve always thought and felt based on what I have experienced and I thank you for posting this and for being truly genuine. Although I am in nursing school, I am studying to get my ACE Health Coach Certification because I have already decided the type of nurse I Don’t want to be. really don’t want to find myself merely passing pills and never really actually helping others heal. When you said you didn’t "believe" in what you were doing, it truly resonated with me. I hope to become a health coach but use my background and nursing credentials as a foundation. You are an inspiration.
I hate hope conventional medicine just masks symptoms with pills. 80% of chronic disease is preventable with lifestyle
But in the doctors defense, that’s what ppl want. It’s a viscous cycle
When you coach people do you need a disclaimer signed or anything?
Thank you for sharing! May I ask, how long did you practice at the bedside before beginning your journey to becoming a health coach? Do you still practice at the bedside? What health coach program did you take and how did you choose that program? Thanks 😊
that’s what I am dong and would love to chat with you
Hi, I am a RN & Personal Trainer to be! I just discovered your video & feel I am in the exact same place right now, you have inspired me! Please if you have any advice on how you got into health coaching as a nurse I would be forever grateful. My instagram is @lilcoachhaz so you can message me there if it’s easier. Thank you Haz x
Hi, I like Your perception. How can I contact you for more insight?, Thank You.
Thanks for your video! I’ve been a nurse for the past 14 years and am very ready to settle into my next career. Can you clarify for me: Do you have to further your education in any way to become a health coach? Maybe that’s a dumb question, but it seems so many of the health coach pieces we perform as nurses. I can certainly see the benefit from the business model standpoint to have extra instruction, but are there legalities to worry about with selling yourself as a health coach with only your nursing license? Thanks for your kind feedback. Switching careers feels scary for me, and have just started gathering information.
I love this upload so much that I watched it twice! I’m a new nurse in the industry and I am feeling the same way about medication administration and living a healthy lifestyle because we do only have one chance at being the healthiest and best individual with the opportunity that we’ve been given with our life. I’m finding that my beliefs don’t match up with those of the nursing field mantra and that a career switch may be a very real thing for me in the near future.
Yes!!!! Finally someone I resonate with❤ I feel the same exact way. I have been a nurse for 17 years (first LPN, then RN, BSN). I kept thinking that advancing my career in nursing with bring that satisfaction, sense of purpose, and fulfillment. WRONG!! I’m finishing up my personal training certification, and then going on to be a health coach. In my research, I’m finding health coaching is where my heart is. I felt bad at first for leaving healthcare because of all the time, blood, sweat, and tears I put in….literally. I knew that, in order for me to truely be happy, less stressed, and a functioning member of society, I had to sever that tie. Thank you for this video. I’m glad it popped up as I was researching health coaching programs. New subscriber here!!!❤❤❤❤
Yay! You are on Youtube now! I am excited to learn more from you 🙂
Why hasn’t this video gone viral!
Fellow nurse here of 2 years! Sick of the current medical model and hospital set up. I recently quit my job and am currently researching which program is best to attend to obtain my health coach certification. Do you recommend the IIN? Did you look into the nurse coaching certification at all? Thanks in advance for your responses 🙂 Be well!!
So I’m in nursing school and I really agree with the things your saying. Would you advise someone to continue with nursing or ? Do you still consider yourself a nurse ? I’m trying to understand if this health coach ties in with nursing or ?
