Should you go to college? How an Exercise Science degree landed me a 100k a year job.

Should you go to college? How an Exercise Science degree landed me a 100k a year job.

My mission is to help people and hopefully inspire them to do what makes them happy. Many people are wondering if college is for them, or if they should pursue something else. Others believe college is for no one. I on the other hand believe college can be for some, and I’m one of those people who were able to benefit from going to college for an exercise science degree. I was able to land a six-figure job less than two years after graduating with a master’s degree. I’m one of the immigrants who’ve worked hard for what I have in America. I am also able to live in a foreign country and travel around the world because of this.

Hey Ariel, I’m currently a teacher and just got my endorsement in Physical education I guess my question would be if you recommend me going back to school for exercise science? I already have my masters but in education. Also if you could do a video or talk about opportunities abroad with an exercise science degree. Thanks!

Got my exercise undergrad in 2019. I’m working on being a Personal trainer and hopefully a strength coach in the near future but I know getting my masters is important unfortunately I couldn’t afford it at this time. But yeah getting an exercise science is very low key special to have.

Hey man, loved your video and it’s so crazy because my story is very similar to yours. Im a high school senior and going to be graduating at age 19 but not because I failed, because I started kindergarten late. And I just committed to a D3 college to run cross country and track and decided to major in exercise science. I also wanted to major in graphic design when I was a junior but when I did tons of research and kinda looked at myself in the mirror, I didn’t see it working out for me. I also have a 2.7 GPA in high school which I’m super scared to college because of how much harder it is there which is why right now I’m trying to discipline myself a lot more to practice for college which is working out because the last two quarters, I have above a 3.0. But I think exercise science is the way to go for me is because I’ve been active all my life and enjoy exercising and playing sports but I don’t lift very often and I’m a little skinny and that’s something I wanna improve on. But I’d love to get the chance to chat with you and ask some questions because I feel like it be nice to ask someone about stuff who’s had a similar teen life growing up

Hey Ariel, first of all thanks a lot for the video. Can I get your email address if you don’t mind. I need some more info as I’m planning for my Master’s in exercise physiology (but I come from a completely different background).

Listening this gaves me mixed opinions about studying this, i am currently studying architecture but i feel like a dont want to do related to this in a future, so i would want something more driven to exercise, athlethism or nutrition but i always hearing that none of that would give me a job with a good salary, so im stuck and stressed about not knowing what to do

Heey Ariel! Thanks for your video, I’m a pharmacist and actually I work in marketing BU of one big pharma co. managing nutritional products for chronic disease. I really love what I do, but also I believe that sports science would complement my vision to pursue an holistic treatment for this patients.
As I’m looking to obtain a Master degree in US or Canada. I have two questions, hope you could help me out.
    1. Do you know any MSc Exercises and Wellness that actually work in marketing?
    2. Which universities could have an inclination through sports and chronic disease prevention & treatment (in US or Canada)?
    Thanks in advance!
    Greetings from Perú.

Are you still in Korea? I’m currently stationed here and considering this degree and I’d like to know what to expect.

  16. Rodrigo Neves Hermida on June 16, 2021 at 11:54 pm

Kinesiology is a degree that there is not enough demand for the amount of graduates every year. Also most people don’t understand you should NOT be turning your passion of exercise into a job. This is like putting your favorite song as your morning alarm.

  17. Andre Chavez on June 16, 2021 at 11:55 pm

Hey I want to be a PE Teacher, do you think I should get a degree in Kinesiology or Physical Education? I want to have a Kinesiology degree but I don’t want to have to take my classes for a teachers credential.

Ariel, thanks for sharing man. I am 30 years old. I got my B.A. in Psychology, but I’m going back to school for my M.A. in Exercise Science. It’s my passion, and I had no clue about Tactical Strength and Conditioning being a career option. Where did you go to get into this specific field? Did you have connections, or did you come across the position and apply.

    Love your video man!

  19. David Shouldice on June 17, 2021 at 12:02 am

Ariel, Thanks for the great video. I have recently finished my time in the Navy and couldn’t think of a better way to continue to serve then to work in the Tactical Strength and Conditioning field or specifically with Veterans. My question is how do you feel about online programs for a MS in Exercise Science? Due to the current COVID climate and family obligations I don’t see myself getting into a in person program anytime soon. Do you think it would be an effective learning path online? I received my undergrad degree online so I’m comfortable learning online but it wasn’t health and fitness related. Thanks for any feedback.

Hey Ariel wanted know better where and what M.A. did you do? And after exercise science what good degrees and paths you can take after the degree? I’m very passionate sporty guy and love sport, but I’m an Italian student and want to do an M.A. in th US or England as I’m half English too, because in Italy there are less job offers. but I wanted to know after the degree are there certain paths which can give me a good job also maybe as a sports coach in soccer or athletics if you know anyone who went down these paths.

Hi, I am very lost right now on what to do, but i am passionate about fitness and don’t have money but want to go to college. I am 17 and a senior and don’t know the opportunities available to me.

  22. Blue Sky 21 on June 17, 2021 at 12:08 am

I really want to help athletes and I am very interested in this field but it seem like there are so much different route out there. I did a little research and some ppl say exercise science don’t get pay well. To me around 60-70k year would be great. I really need help on choosing which route I should take in exercise science

i appreciate the knowledge and motivation & i like your channel. this is the first video i’ve seen from you… The one thing I will say is i feel like you were talking really slow in the beginning (i ended up watching in 1.25x speed) and i felt like you took a while to get to the point of the video. just my unwarranted, personal opinion. best of luck to you and your channel I hope you reach your goal. gained a sub from me.

I graduated back in 2017 with a master’s in exercise science and have only managed to make just under 18k annually working part-time minimum wage retail/customer service related jobs with one exception being a part-time adjunct faculty job in which my contract was not extended due to lack of demand for the class. Now, I find myself potentially going back for a masters in data science or pursuing a computer programming career pathway in hopes that I can find an entry level analyst job or maybe make the connection between data analytics and exercise science! My graduate program was research intensive with lots of analysis and a thesis project that involved in-depth statistical analysis using Excel and SPSS, but I think the fact I did not do any internships, despite the fact I kept insisting to my academic advisor that I wanted and felt the need to do an internship, is probably why I have had no success in landing a good job.
