Health care degrees and health care careers are something I’m very familiar with since I’m a healthcare professional.

Healthcare related jobs are currently growing faster than any other type of profession according to BLS (even faster than tech related professions!).

There is a ton of opportunity here, but just because it’s good as a whole doesn’t mean there aren’t a few bad apples.

In this video we will be talking about some of them, hope you enjoy!

I received a Health Care Adm BA degree from a 4 year Catholic College 35 years ago. Became an Accountant studying Finance as part of my degree program. Entered into MBA Program 20 years later. As long as you continue expanding your skill level and interest, it will work for you.

Healthcare services administration is an excellent degree choice if you have a certificate/A.S in an allied health career field and experience. Similar to how nurses have ASN, BSN, MSN, a B.S. in Healthcare Services Administration will allow you to prove how you can manage services and patient care vs. managing the business aspect.

im an organisational psychologist. liberal arts broaden peoples minds. in the work place, these people have a high toletance for ambguity, can see problems form many different angles, work well with others. There is lot of research to support this (Larrick 2016).

She ended up going for a masters, I told her “you know that’s useless, right?” She got mad when she realized she needed a PhD, and was 60k in debt. Last I spoke with her she was working at a Car Dealership driving cars from location to location for 10 bucks an hour. I

You were right. They will be requiring a masters by 2024 for dietetics degree but most internships have the masters already integrated into it. Additionally, good to note that you don’t get paid for the dietetics internship… in fact you need to pay them thousands of dollars for the “wonderful” opportunity to work for them

This must be why so many chiropractors become "life coaches".

  32. Nico Pardamean on July 27, 2021 at 9:32 pm

I was thinking pharmacy is on the list. For the past few years (esp in my country) , many universities open up pharmacy program. It leads to oversupply.

Clinical Psych major here, this may be the only choice i made in my life based on my emotions in that current time spending years of your life you know you never ever gonna get them back thinking that’s what you love, later you’ll find yourself going back home everyday asking yourself (what the hell i am doing with my life? What’s the point of this? ), your video slapped me in the face just as strong as reality did, amma changing this thing am doing right away not wasting any other second of my life doing this psychology thing.

I have a degree from Herverd University(a top echelon on- line college based in Uganda)! My degree is called the " effects of astrology on the digestive system"
All though I am $850,000 in debt and cannot find work in any hospital nor in any metropolitan sanitation service, my on- line counselor has advised me to be proud of my health care credentials and not let anybody insult my proud alma mater! I do have a promising job interview at a donut shop next week but my counselor advised me not to bring up my degree so that the manager does not get jealous and think I have too much book- learning!

Many hospital employees qualify for discounts at local universities. While I worked as a registered nurse and decided to get my bachelor’s degree, I not only got a 20% discount on classes but received some tuition assistance from the hospital I worked for. It wasn’t much but it helped. Then when I worked at a different hospital, I was not only eligible for a 20% discount but eligible for over $5000/year of tuition reimbursement while I worked on my Masters. I have no debt. Discounts are not just given for nursing but many degrees.

I totally disagree about the comments on what people want from a personal trainer. People want to know which how to exercise safely, the best way to achieve their weight loss, what is the healthiest way. They want to know how the muscles work, etc, etc, etc. I don’t care if the instructor is funny I care far more about their knowledge of the body. And that is especially important for people with prior injuries, disabilities. Even those who’ve struggled all their life to loose weight may end up at a gym because everything the’ve ever done has never worked. Weight loss is a world wide problem especially for the US and costs costs governments many millions of dollars in health care due to illness and injury caused by obesity. Physical instructors actually help cut this cost down without people realising it.
Give them a bit more credit for their knowledge!

I can attest that a bachelors in psychology might as well be a degree in basket weaving! WORTHLESS 😒

  43. SavvyGiselle on July 27, 2021 at 9:45 pm

Masters is the new bachelors … what is crazy is now some healthcare degrees are now pushing for doctorates … WHAT 😮

  44. Romeoslover on July 27, 2021 at 9:46 pm

You are assuming that the student wants to work directly as a psychologist when getting a four year degree. I have a psychology free with minors in business and carefree life planning. I worked directly in my field assisting people on welfare get self- sufficient. Many classmates getting this degree went into business personnel, sales, work in nursing homes..hospital social service workers , etc. basically any thing in which you are work with people. Learn more than one language. This alone is a huge selling point. People who hire others look for communication skills, people skills, problem solving etc. these are considered soft skills, but are essential for working directly with people. Any liberal arts degree is helpful with these skills. Also, it helps a person to get jobs when the person is to work with. A-holes may get a job, but keep it if the business or agency can’t stand having you. around. One caveat : You will not get rich doing these things, but the typical person who psychology does it because they like working people rather than money.

I always fear college depts but then I wake up and realize that I live in Germany were education is free😂😂😂

  46. Romeoslover on July 27, 2021 at 9:47 pm

One more point. You start out low end of the ladder, but you advance very quickly if you are open to different jobs where you use the same skills. I started in 1987 at a punny 1000.K per month, but everything was way less expensive back then. When I retired, it was at 65k, plus full medical, dental insurance, and not mention a decent pension. These jobs pay more than that currently.
