I think I only have one other video on lupus: Fighting Lupus with Turmeric: Good as Gold (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/fighting-lupus-with-turmeric-good-as-gold/). It’s not for lack of trying, though—there just hasn’t been much research out there.

I talk about another autoimmune disease, type 1 diabetes, next in Type 1 Diabetes Treatment: A Plant-Based Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/type-1-diabetes-treatment-a-plant-based-diet).

I had suspected LUpus, diagnosed with IGA nephropathy( passing blood) and kidney function dipping to eGFR of 50-60. My gfr is currently within normal range and no symptoms anymore. Diet and lifestyle people. Reduce the stress. Eat well. And sleep well!!! Early nights work a treat

Excellent series but let’s put it to the test: Dr Greger’s purpose is to educate and transmit knowledge on prevention and lifestyle through his videos. So what is a better method? His recent videos where he is seen speaking or his previous one’s where he speaks off camera and we see the studies and hear his voice? Seeing him is distracting to his goal of transmitting knowledge. Compare two sets of viewers. They both watch same video with him and without him on screen. Those viewers that watch how he previously made videos will score higher on a test of retention. Meeting his goal. Is there a reason why we have to become distracted with him on screen?

THANKYOU FOR THIS INFORMATION! Can you please do a video on the different types of Leukemia and what foods help with treating this?

I was COVERED in lichen planus hands, legs, feet & even some spots on my mouth (which is scary b/c when it presents in your mouth people get suicidal). I did 3 STRICT months of zero processed plant foods and now I have zero sores on my body 🙂 I do about 90% unprocessed now, but when I veer too far into crap food my pustules come back. I get back to my whole food diet and BAM the sores go away again. If you’re having trouble switching over, try MAMASEZZ meals! Yes, it is pricey, but once you’ve brought your inflammation down you can start cooking for yourself. I make homemade vegan chili, vegetable stew, sweet potato enchiladas, Indian spiced dishes with couscous, whole grain pasta with veggies & marinara, corn tortillas with refried beans/rice, lettuce, tomato, avocado, oatmeal, sprouted bread veggie & hummus sandwiches…this is easy guys.

I had moderate to severe eczema from the time I was a baby until I was 27 years old. My parents tried everything: steroids, allergy tests, homeopathy (for many years – they were convinced it helped, it didn’t). Enter a whole food, plant based diet, and my eczema is all but gone within a month, and this is going on 2 and a half years now! Remarkable that no one told me eating meat and dairy was bad for me, or that I could cure my disease with broccoli.

I have a similar diagnosis to lupus called granulomatosis with polyangiitis. I was diagnosed at 13 years old and have been treated consistently since, which includes mild forms of chemotherapy. I get sick often, feel fatigued, moody, etc. I decided to start a whole food plant based diet about a week ago and plan on dropping my meds all together at some point in the future (under supervision of my rheumatologist).
I truly hope this is the answer I’ve been looking for; I don’t want to be on meds my whole life.

    Good afternoon Dr. Greger,

I hear you sometimes state that a whole foods plant-based diet is the only diet ever proven to reverse heart disease. But I was wondering what you think of this study on carotid atherosclerosis that shows that a diet including animal products (and not an ounce per day) can actually reverse the progression of the disease:

    Thanks for your work.
