In this video, Dr. Berg talks about consuming diet soda in a ketogenic diet. Diet coke, coke zero and coke zero sugar have the same ingredients except for other sweeteners. It has aspartame which affects the gut, increase the risk for insulin resistance and diabetes. It also has caramel coloring where they heat sugar with an ammonia compound to produce an end product called AGE or Advanced Glycation Endproducts, which creates sticky proteins in the body.

Short video but straight to the point! Doctor you’re already trusted, you don’t necessarily need to explain in detail the science, we, I believe you! More short and sweet videos please 😄😄

The object of Keto is become healthy. how can that happen if one is drinking Toxic soda!!! There is Nothing healthy about diet soda.

  4. Linda O on September 29, 2022 at 7:18 am

Aspartame is very inflammatory in your system. The big brands won’t use the keto sweeteners because they’re too expensive still, so try soda with sucralose, better for you than aspartame for sure but not as good as the stevia, monk fruit or erythritol. He’s just trying to warn you against drinking a gazillion cans a day – be sensible, 1 or 2 is better.

Topo Chico is also a Coca Cola product…but includes some sodium…which is worse a pinch of sodium or a pinch of sugar? I mean we can determine if we’re going over a daily limit of both but I’m not going to be religious about zero sugar or sodium!

  6. Heaven Marie on September 29, 2022 at 7:20 am

I must drink my Diet Pepsi or else I’ll eat the world.

  7. Dptl on September 29, 2022 at 7:21 am

Oh, so they should put a warning label on these things? Sue all government agencies who didn’t regulate these things!

  9. Daryl Dettmer on September 29, 2022 at 7:26 am

  12. Aaron Brown on September 29, 2022 at 7:35 am

Wow… I feel bad. I drank a Pepsi Zero Sugar today at Regal Cinema. It was free. I’ll just ask for water or take the empty cup to fill it at the water fountain.

  13. Daniswara on September 29, 2022 at 7:35 am

Are you really a doctor, a real doctor? Since the research about aspartame linked to cancer research’s methodology was a bogus one. The rat in the experiment only got a cancer because they were injected with impossible amount of aspartam. Which would be impossible to happen in human unless they drink and bath in coke Zero. The way you suggest that coke Zero is a carcinogen food just because a bogus past research is unethical for a doctor, at least that’s what I think. I don’t know about the other composition, you might be right or wrong. I won’t comment about anything else that I didn’t know. Definitely will check whether what you said about caramel coloring is right or not.

Sorry for my poor English, English is not my native language.

    dangerous

  15. Bogdan Antone on September 29, 2022 at 7:36 am

Ok but did it ask the actual question:
Does zero coke get you out of ketogenesis ? From my personal testing, it didn’t ; however i never went more than 2 cans of zero-coke /day in my full-fasting episodes.

  16. xerps on September 29, 2022 at 7:36 am

i still indulge in diet dr pepper with meals sometimes. i have tried making my own soda at home but can never get the flavor as good

  17. Redfish Incorporated on September 29, 2022 at 7:37 am

So you didn’t address the question at hand. Is diet coke keto friendly?

  18. Mjbla 27 on September 29, 2022 at 7:38 am

1 can of diet soda a day or 2 wont kill you

  19. ElleLiz on September 29, 2022 at 7:39 am

There’s a product called Olipop Vintage soda flavor
It tastes just like coke but it has 2g sugar and they use Stevia. It also has a tonic of roots. They also have more flavors

  20. Mike Stevens on September 29, 2022 at 7:39 am

    Doc, what about Sprite Zero

  21. m green on September 29, 2022 at 7:44 am

I remember when aspartame first came out- I kind of figured it probably wasn’t better than the other artificial sweeteners , but nonetheless I drank a lot of Coke when doing a bicycle tour in Florida. A few days later when i got home I notices a sizeable growth in my ear lobe. As I wasn’t drinking it anymore it shrank after a few days. It’s clear to me this isn’t good stuff.

  22. Eddie Andre' - The Raven on September 29, 2022 at 7:45 am

I drunk lots of Vodka and added a tiny bit of coke zero to one and woke up with a terrible headache lol

  23. Pete Zappa on September 29, 2022 at 7:46 am

I’m still very skeptical, aspartame has been studied to death.
Like all foods artificial or not, overindulgence is never good.

  24. 3rd Rock Woodworks on September 29, 2022 at 7:46 am

I have a question that seems to go ignored by the by the video doctors. So, I’m going to ask it again. Can you drink carbonated waters like AHA, La Croix or Waterloo that have no sugars or sweeteners while fasting? They have natural fruit flavors but zero sugars and no artificial additives. I’m not talking Tonic water which has 33g sugars and 33g carbs (i.e. Schweppes brand).

Also, and I am not justifying anything, I have a cousin who works for coke and he told me that the amount of aspartame used in the Zero products is significantly less than the diet soda and that other natural sweeteners are used. I still don’t drink them though, they give me headaches. I always thought that caramel color was just heated sugar. Never heard of combining it with ammonia. Either way, it’s not good.

  25. J on September 29, 2022 at 7:47 am

The Coca Cola Zero Sugar is so good though 😋🤤

  26. Emily P on September 29, 2022 at 7:48 am

Well from my experience I realised that as soon as I start drinking done et Coke I feel hungry. While I drink anything else I don’t feel that. So I wouldn’t even try drink Diet Coke on a diet 🤓

  27. renee mandell on September 29, 2022 at 7:48 am

bottom line, don’t drink any kind of soda ever!!! pure chemicals. why would you put this shit in your body???

  28. Alan Hughes on September 29, 2022 at 7:49 am

i use to work in a company what supplied phosphoric acid got some on my boot put water on them to wash it off, my boot caught on fire it melted so it can’t be good for you. these drinks are only good to clean bugs of your car windscreen and flush out the radiator. maybe a glass now and then but drinking this stuff in large doses can not be good this doctor is right on the money health is wealth don’t drink this stuff drink water .

  29. Lawrence Munroe on September 29, 2022 at 7:51 am

Thr FDA allows food companies to label high fructose corn syrup as "natural flavors "

  33. Ron Macomber on September 29, 2022 at 7:54 am

I never did like soda much. But what I do love is Dr Bergs electrolyte drink mix. After that, it’s lemon juice and organic stevia.

  34. thingshappens on September 29, 2022 at 7:56 am

I am so glad that I searched this topic on youtube today. I already knew dr berg but didn’t realized he has already touched on diet soda. I take on a minium of 2 litters of diet pepsi everyday. NO MORE.

  35. Quinn Murray on September 29, 2022 at 7:58 am

Diabetic. My A1C @ 6 and has not changed by consuming Diet Dr Pepper.

What does this have to do with Keto?

  36. EB on September 29, 2022 at 7:59 am

I quit drinking any type of coke juice or processed drinks over 12 years ago and that’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, this stuff is toxic ppl please stop poisoning yourselves.

  37. Seanmcg727 on September 29, 2022 at 7:59 am

Ok for the record Stevia is F’ING disgusting! And that Zevia soda is the worst tasting soda I’ve ever had. So I guess I’ll have to choose to die young, but at least somewhat happy.

  38. Andrew Pereira on September 29, 2022 at 8:00 am

good advice,i have heard this before but the caramel is news to me.

  39. Jim M on September 29, 2022 at 8:02 am

Yeah, I drank diet Pepsi the entire time I was doing Keto. Lost 120lbs. I know it’s not good for you, but it doesn’t stop you from losing weight and it helped with my sweet cravings.

  40. Mirror Reflection on September 29, 2022 at 8:04 am

Is diet soda worse than regular soda ?

  41. RPRsChannel on September 29, 2022 at 8:04 am

*_For me, something odd happens if I drink diet cola: it elevates my mood, no matter when I drink it._*
*_I drink 1-2 cups of coffee before noon each day, and even if I have a glass of diet cola after coffee or if I skip the coffee and only have a glass of diet cola; it elevates my mood, in a more positive way than coffee. This makes me quite skeptical to diet cola, as I have experience it changed my mood quite a bit!?_*

*_It is peculiar that some "soft-claim" they are addicted to diet cola? It’s just 1-2 cups of coffee’s worth of caffeine in 1/3 gallon bottle(1.5l), so what are they "addicted" to, bubbles?_*
*_And those who drink diet cola seem to quickly come up to a level of drinking 1 gallon/4l a day??_*
*_Is it a fact that diet cola leads to weight gain, I seem to recall reading: "for some, they seem to gain weight if they drink 1.5l diet cola a day"._*
*_So, what is going on here?? What makes some gain weight from drinking diet cola, what is it that helps people loose weight while drinking diet cola and why does it not do anything to some people?_*
*_There must be a limit or threshold, is it OK with 1 glass a week? 1 glass a day? Is it 1.5l–>1 gallon(ca 4l) a day that is dangerous? I feel like the word "dangerous" has been bought and paid away so no one who researches diet cola and publishes their findings says that word._*

  42. Omar Q on September 29, 2022 at 8:05 am

You didn’t answer the question ?
You just mentioned a few consequences of the ingredients
    Is it keto though??

  49. Winterstick549 on September 29, 2022 at 8:13 am

    I drink diet Mountain dew.
No carmel coloring, taste better than diet Colas and more caffeine, but not the buzzy level of ‘energy’ drinks.

  50. Kristian PS on September 29, 2022 at 8:15 am

Are the diet cokes, Pepsi max dehydrating the body? Making skin etc feel and look dry/tired?
