FAT: A Documentary (1080p) FULL MOVIE – Health & Wellness, Diet, Food

FAT tells the far-fetched but completely true history of how our country became so unhealthy. In 1970, just over 1.5 million people had been diagnosed with Diabetes in the United States. Now over 30 million have Diabetes. What’s even more alarming is that 100 million people, 1 in 3, have Diabetes or are Pre-Diabetic. This is not to mention the 40% of the population that are obese. How is this possible with the non-stop flow of new diets, exercise machines and our general obsession with health and weight loss? We’re as unhealthy as ever. The truth is that we have pretty much had everything completely upside-down and backwards. FAT traces a detailed history spanning 150 years to show how misinformation and outright lies have become “truth.”

Why do movie makers think it’s a good idea to put drumbeats behind people speaking so you have to struggle to hear what’s being said.

I’ve watched many of these documentaries and all I know is that the thought that one man can make a difference is really true. Damn you Ancel Keys if you really were responsible

I quit eating sugar (sweets and added sugars) 12 days ago and already lost 8lbs. Sugar causes heart disease. That was my motivation. Any physician will tell you that diabetes is a "coronary artery disease equivalent." Meaning if you get diagnosed with diabetes, they will assume you also have coronary disease even if you don’t know it yet. Diabetes is a disease of high blood glucose. Sugar is the root of the problem with both diabetes AND coronary artery disease. Quit sugar, reduce your risks of getting these diseases. It’s pretty simple. Sugar is unnatural and unnecessary for human life. Eat it on your birthday or one or two other occasions each year, but outside of that, avoid it like the plague.

1:18:55 Oh, THAT study. The one where most participants left within a year’s time, and there were so many conflicting factors that Ancel Keys left the study in his basement because he knew, and anyone who’s not a liar like Nina would realize, that the study was virtually worthless!

  15. Stellasternchen on April 4, 2023 at 10:41 am

Wait what? Low carb is not reccomended for diabetics? There are studies where. patients even have remission of diabetes.

  16. michael tucker on April 4, 2023 at 10:41 am

Food companies want to know selling you what makes them money. They say that money is the root of all evil so that’s the connection for me.

  17. Eclectician on April 4, 2023 at 10:42 am

What a fantastic introduction to the ketogenic diet. You take an old man who’s retelling an obviously painful story about his baby boy, and how he discovers that Children’s Hospital FAILED (not the first story I’ve heard about CH doing something wrong or bad) repeatedly to tell him about the keto diet that was developed 100+ years ago to treat epileptic seizures and is still around today for that and certain other psychiatric disorders. Then, you use that to sell the big lie that keto is for everyone. It was not made for everyone, it does not work long-term for everyone, and the studies funded by Virta Health and industry allies proved it. SHORT-TERM (6 mo-1 yr) it improves many health markers but longer than that and most people start going backwards. I looked at the data and it was easy to see! Gimme a break with this "truth" BS.

Americans are so possessed with WEIGHTLOSS its getting annoying. This documentary has some great and solid factors, the argument though is between saturated fats of animal origin, vs high processed seed/plant oils, white sugar, kellogs cornflakes, and that Minnesota study that was not published is on beef burger and sausages vs soy burgers and sausages. Really, there is no talk of real food. It is not all about weight, obesity, diabetes but also cancer, like colon cancer which its risk increases with animal protein consumption, what about gut microbiom and TMAO, what about gut lining inflamation due to high stomach acid required to digest the animal proteins, what about toxins from berbequing the chunk of meats on high temperatures, what about inflamation index of animal protein.

Another case of reductionism instead of a HOLISTIC, 360 degrees approach. The pyramid with grains as base is by no doubt ridiculous. Vegetables, tender leaves, tubers, fruits, nuts, seeds, avocados, olives are our predominant diet, and whole grains and legumes, animal protein preferably fish, organic eggs as SIDE DISHES/ low WITHOUT Processed junk crap, Exercise/movement, mental, emotional and social well-being, stress less, love more and live is the way to go. We are not carnivores, our wonderful physiology from our jaws, teeth, length of our intestines, digestive enzymes are neither CARNIVOROUS, nor omnivorous. At best but not entirely fruvigores. WE need another better terminology for us humans.

One size doesn’t fit all. Some people do better on low-fat plant based and some on keto.

  20. Dan Barrett on April 4, 2023 at 10:46 am

I had autoimmune disease, gained 20lbs, had IBS, and was sick for about 7-8 yrs. Then I did the Keto diet, intermittent fasting & within 12-18 months lost 20 lbs, fixed autoimmune problems. My energy went through the roof….could do treadmill at 8-10 MPH at 4-6% incline for sprints, 10-20 seconds my HR never went over 150 & I was not out of breath. WHY are people sick? Because Gov’t & Special Interest groups manipulate the data & don’t educate the public they program the public.

  26. Eclectician on April 4, 2023 at 10:51 am

Funny how this video talks about the evils of simple sugars, which is justified, but it overlooks the relationship between lipids (fats) and glycogens (sugars) in the blood and cells. Fat-saturation is achieved in many keto dieters within 6 mo – 2 years, after which their health markers start getting worse again. This is because of fat saturation which prevents insulin from putting the sugar in the cells (insulin resistance).

I reversed my diabetes on a high carb diet, low fat. My chiropractor told me I should eat more fats, once I started felt much brain fog. Mixing fat and carbs together seems to make things worse.

I see the high fat diet work for people. As well as the high carb low fat diet, works for many including myself and my mom.

One thing not mentioned about the inuits and how they don’t get sick or die from nutrient deficiencies is because they eat the WHOLE animal so they are also eating the nutrients from the vegetation that the animals are eating.

  40. Eelko on April 4, 2023 at 11:14 am

Last year I was looking at a lot of documentaries, left and right. After that, I watched this one again (and watched part 2). It is superb made. I am missing one thing. The fats from plants are not always the best. But we got a lot of people to feed. A lot of meat and dairy comes from sick animals because they’re ill treated and getting a lot of crap to eat. Sick animals give ‘sick’ making foods. Could be a part 3?

America is a nation of lies and bad ideas. Kellogg himself is responsible for many, including secular circumcision. It’s a part time job sorting through all the lies and myths foisted on the US populace – and get men, patriots, to not be proud of them.

  50. Eclectician on April 4, 2023 at 11:21 am

57:30 A THREE-day diet! Wow! That’s so completely anecdotal and absolutely useless to show the true results of the keto diet!
And then you conclude the summation of the McGovern Committee, claiming that there was never any change, but you gloss over the fact that the ORIGINAL report was altered because the food industry didn’t like meat, eggs and milk being maligned, and THAT is how fat became the villain – big industry power!

59:09 You couldn’t get fruit and vegetables year round? Where’d you live, the Arctic? In my entire 56 years, I never saw a winter where fruits and vegetables weren’t available. Good lord – stop the lies!

Why don’t you mention what Pekka Puska et al and the Finnish government did to reduce heart disease there when they had the most incidences of it? Why don’t you mention that they did a study in one part of Finland, N. Carelia (sic?), where they worked with the wives to alter the diets of the men, who were dying young of heart disease despite being outwardly very healthy and strong? Why don’t you tell the audience that they used Canola (Canada Oil Low Acid) to replace butter, cut down on meat and cheese, and the pilot program was so successful that Finland nationalized the program and got off the top of the list???
