How to make healthy eating unbelievably easy | Luke Durward | TEDxYorkU

After breaking his leg, undergraduate student Luke Durward used his time to return home and mentor his little brother on healthy eating. While illustrating his brother’s dramatic transformation, Durward shares the obvious secret that is repeatedly overlooked by unsuccessful dieters.

TEDxYorkU held its 4th annual event on March 4, 2014 at York University. The theme for the event was Combustion. Follow us on Twitter @tedxyorku

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

When someone is willing to do something they’re clearly uncomfortable with like this, they must have a good message and passion for the subject. Respect.

It’s hard to work at a place that provides unhealthy food as free lunch snacks, and a dollar store located both next door and in-store. I think my next step will be eating outside instead of in the break room.

Not trying to be rude but just saying that the entire time all he eventually said was don’t keep junk food in your house, so you don’t have the choice to eat it!

Just eat meat. It’s extremely difficult to overeat meat when you are a human carnivore. We also have a moral duty to eat meat. "Eating meat is creating life. It brings into existence beings with valuable states of consciousness." – Nick Zangwill, "Our Moral Duty to Eat Meat," published by Cambridge University Press, June 14, 2021

Do you think this method would work for the emotional eaters? I love the simplicity. However I eat to soothe. Therefore no matter how many vegetables I keep in the fridge, I will not eat them because I do not like the bitterness of vegetables.

Its not that easy in todays world. When you can just order something bad online! ;-( Family get-togethers are also so difficult. We don’t keep bad foods in the house, yet we are still overweight.

I wish he had given some SPECIFIC examples on how to better implement this.. that’s why I Googled "lazy way to eat healthy" and got this as a first result. Someone telling me "don’t keep unhealthy snacks at home that’s bad" is kind of a mockery of what I’ve already done.. anybody have good recommendations on easy healthy meal solutions that require little to no cleanup?
