Restriction is the main indicator of future weight gain. I’ve water fasted for a month, I’ve done Keto for years, I’ve restricted different foods and amounts of food. Diets do not work for me. And it’s not a willpower thing, I’ve done mad amounts of restriction.

Also, food is an emotional comfort and diets make you feel restricted and needing comfort.
I think the best way for me is to make myself eat enough nutritious food so that I’m able to break habits of automatically going to junk food.

Yes, low carb and Keto can help you lose weight, but I don’t think the issue is necessarily discipline – i think breaking habits by whatever means possible is the key to long term health, and end of yoyo weight loss.

You have to listen to your body. It will tell you what you need for fuel.

I think joe is right, discipline is key. I had a accident, laid in bed for 6 months, doctors told me i will be an invalide. No chance, i had a family to go shittin, i went keto, lost 60 pounds, built muscles, i cant run till now, but i work again , am able to run my wife and my kids!

If you had met Swami Rama I wonder if you would speak like that. If someone says it’s too hard, then you lack understanding that society that is body driven will not sustain any diet. Do you see any diet giving immortality? This is why when a person decided something within on a higher level they go far ahead whether they live on one diet or not. Their every decision comes through consciousness. Everyone is as good as you in this world. 🙏

I don’t agree entirely that all of those undisciplined folks out there are just weak. I think that, like confidence mentioned in this video, it does require smaller steps to be taken rather than starting off with a lofty goal. I don’t think a lot of people understand this or even are self-aware enough to know how to test their own limits. I might say I’m a bit undisciplined, but I’ve been making small changes (ie avoiding products with added sugars, going to bed by a certain time during the week to be rested for work) to my life that will eventually lead me to an overall healthier way of being. I don’t think that discipline is either something you have or something you don’t, but something that can be achieved through a gradual but steady process. I also think that, when faced with success in dieting, someone’s more likely to stick with what works and not inclined to sabotage themselves like Joe seems to think.

Hmmm, I lost 96lbs going low carb. I have been on keto/carnivore for four years. I gained 20lbs during covid. It is very difficult to lose weight. I had my DNA done and found I am a slow carb metabolizer, gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant and can’t eat beans. I recently found out from my DNA I have a gene that makes me insulin resistant, besides having a mutation in my genes that does not process vitamins, like B13, folate, E, just to point out a few. The DNA gave me the reasons I have always had stomach aches after eating breads or pasta. I take 25-33 supplements per day. Keep my saturated fat low, carbs low, drink more water. I do sauna everyday and HIIT for half hour four days a week. I also do intermittent fasting at least four days. I kept my 96 lbs off 10 years and gained it during covid and NO GYM. I kept keto but ate too many calories during lockdown.
My question is this: are calories in the basis for weight loss? I have experimented and found I can lose weight at 600-750 calories per day stuffed with nutrition. But I can’t keep that restrictive diet up. Any thoughts. Oh, I am 72 years old no medical issues yet. I’m 190lbs. 5 feet tall

Joe needs to have Cole Robertson on his show. The snake diet king.

  8. Joseph Abad on April 23, 2022 at 6:42 pm

    Joe is pure real talk

  9. myrandomlife on April 23, 2022 at 6:44 pm

Is joe so motivated because he’s never been lazy or fat? Does he thinks it’s easy? I agree with him I just lack the motivation. I worked 10 hours took a nap after work then I still slept 10 hours at night. I’m exhausted. Doing blood work later this week. I’m 38 and have a stressful job. I get calls all the time and deal with a bunch of bs off the clock. Maybe I need trt. Joe mentioned the rock as someone who just gets up and does it! That’s laughable. The Rock is probably on a shit ton of drugs and roids.

I wonder how many subscribers Rogan lost on this one. He doesn’t usually act like a dick but sure sounded like one here.

  11. Bill Nye on April 23, 2022 at 6:46 pm

Having 3 people on a podcast is way too much. There’s too many thoughts and opinions floating around at once.

  12. Dustin Adair on April 23, 2022 at 6:48 pm

Most people are just weak minded. They don’t realize their body is capable of doing what they half assed wished it would but they don’t make that mental change. It’s too easy to be lazy and fat in this country.

  13. Diane Luna on April 23, 2022 at 6:49 pm

Joe is right..No technology will keep me apart from my mcdonalds fries

  14. Rick Steinborn on April 23, 2022 at 6:51 pm

I did Keto a few times, and not once have I experienced relapse. On the contrary, sometimes the switch to carbohydrates seemed to have a boosting effect for my metabolism, so I lost two or three additional pounds after going back on carbs.

  15. Jota on April 23, 2022 at 6:52 pm

Discipline is your best friend it will take care of you like nothing else can .

  16. skoolie_ life on April 23, 2022 at 6:54 pm

It’s true. I lost a bunch of weight, and gained it all back because I got sick of tracking. I kept it off for about a year. Keeping the weight off is hard.

  17. Mocking Bird on April 23, 2022 at 6:55 pm

Food addiction is a real thing. Try telling a heroin addict they are an addict because they are not disciplined.

You don’t need herion to live, you do need food to live.

  18. ELLA AMURAO on April 23, 2022 at 6:56 pm

I suggest trying the Agoge Diet if you want to build muscle as fast as possible. It worked awesome for me.

  19. USA Man on April 23, 2022 at 6:56 pm

I’m just 5 minutes in and there seems to be ALOT of talking over each other in this one. Not cool. Maybe its due to the 3 person dynamics but definitely noticeable

  20. Brigadier88 on April 23, 2022 at 6:58 pm

Joe is right, I’ve been a bitch too many times and given up when I could have easily stayed true. Hearing this was motivating, I needed to hear this.

  21. C_FIDDY711 on April 23, 2022 at 6:58 pm

    Don’t be a BITCH!😂

  22. Jason Newton on April 23, 2022 at 6:58 pm

I started the keto life style. I can’t see myself eating carbs ever again. For me it’s knowing that I’m on the right path. Only green veggies 🍃. 😋 for life!

  23. Levi Ortiz on April 23, 2022 at 6:59 pm

    Joe Rogan is so underwhelming.

  25. Lauren on April 23, 2022 at 7:01 pm

Also around 11:30 he’s right. Most that lose weight, gain it back. Look at the candidates from The Biggest Loser show, most of them are back to square one.

Never thought klay Thompson would make it to the podcast

  29. Cryomorph on April 23, 2022 at 7:08 pm

Fat is the most calorie dense macro nutrient, not carbs. Carbs are also the preferred fuel source by the body, ketosis is an adaptation.

  30. Bruno Bruno’s Journey on April 23, 2022 at 7:09 pm

It all comes down to discipline and the choices you make.

  31. TheMightyOdin on April 23, 2022 at 7:13 pm

I’ve lost 173 pounds without demonizing any macros.

I average 40% of my calories from carbohydrates, 35% from protein and 25% from fat. I eat all day and I’m never hungry.

  32. C Major on April 23, 2022 at 7:13 pm

how to make healthy choices – if you enjoy eating it, stop eating it

  33. Shane Towne on April 23, 2022 at 7:14 pm

The one thing they forget is it costs to eat good. The carnivore diet, keto, all the diets cost more. Not only do you have to push trough its expensive.

  34. Tristan Breen on April 23, 2022 at 7:16 pm

my My God I miss old school brutal Rogan lol so good!

  36. Lauren on April 23, 2022 at 7:17 pm

At the end of the day, one diet doesn’t work for everyone. We also need to remember we only get one body. You hate your job? You can change it. Can’t stand your girlfriend? Leave her. But our body, bitch you are stuck forever so be your own best friend and take care of yourself.

  37. All Nations Seer on April 23, 2022 at 7:19 pm

Have to rebound into self discipline

  38. Hi There on April 23, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Our food isn’t food. It’s manufactured products meant to addict and destroy. Best diet is to get off anything processed and MOVE

  40. Erick Z on April 23, 2022 at 7:22 pm

Joe HATES lazy and undisciplined people

  41. Mike on April 23, 2022 at 7:23 pm

They’re missing a big piece: People are generally no less disciplined today than they were 150 years ago, when NO ONE was obese. The culture, availability, low cost & ease of access to processed food in developed countries overwhelms the ability of a HUGE number of people to avoid it. Finger pointing only at the people for being "weak" is missing the forest for the trees. Many of these people are highly disciplined and successful in other aspects of life. And yet they STILL stand little chance to avoid processed food, and the person of low socioeconomic status stands zero chance.

  45. sukhjit sandhu on April 23, 2022 at 7:27 pm

Low fat or low carb if your in a caloric deficit you will lose weight. Personally I adhere much better to a low fat IF approach because its more flexible for me. Also when I hit my target weight I just bump my calories and eat the same food and macro ratio. You can also keep it simple eat 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight and whatevers left eat in carbs or fats.

  46. YOURAVGDUDE on April 23, 2022 at 7:29 pm

‘Or, stop being a bitch’ Joe Rogan. I love this guy. He’s my hero.
