Lecture 7 – Nutrition and Metabolism
Lecture 7 – Nutrition and Metabolism
In this video, Dr Mike discusses the following Learning Outcomes (LO’s);
LO 7.1 – Define the terms: nutrient, essential nutrient, calorie, kilojoule, metabolism, catabolism, anabolism, and outline the different fat-soluble/water soluble-vitamins
LO 7.2 – Differentiate between: glycolysis, glycogenesis, glycogenolysis, and gluconeogenesis
LO 7.3 – Discuss the control mechanisms involved in the absorptive & post-absorptive states
There are three basic metabolism types: ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph β definitely words you probably don’t use in your normal, day-to-day conversations. But learning the types of body you were born with will help your fitness plan in the long run.π
Wonderful!! Snappy ! Genius – no lags. Smooth, and very good looking
He has a cheat sheet behind the board. Caught him while listing the 9 AAs. Enjoyed the lecture a lot. Thank you sir.

Such an enlightening lecture! In a context of sports, for a sprinter there is a sharp drop of stamina or energy at about a few minutes. I imagine it happens when glycose levels drop in the blood stream. For a marathon runners, it seems, there are two additional periods – glycogenesis, gluconeogenesis. Could you elaborate on this, please?
What a legend man
This video is deserves million views

You made a mistake …..vitamin B 7 is Biotin and vitamin B 9 is folic acid
By the way itβs amazing lecture….thank you sir πβΊοΈπ
I suggest that you have a look at the research performed by Dr. Linda Benskin and Dr. Gareth Davies on vitamin D. Their research has shown that the amount we need is far higher than what is suggested by the RDA and the amount you need to reach toxicity is also far higher. It has also shown that, for those of us not living near the equator, vitamin D production from the sun is not going to produce sufficient amounts and supplements are needed.
Hello dr Mike, is that the cori cycle or the lactate shuttle you are referring to on 1:00:05 ?
Dr. Mike is the best to explain, I have never seen anyone with that much knowledge. Who is stupid to dislike his video
1 calorie is measured with 1 kg of water, not 1 gram of water,
The video was very knowledgable. I’ve been trying to search for a YouTube video similar to yours that informs everything in this video. π©Ί The descriptions at 1:30 is so knowledgable. Your video totally reminds me of the videos of Doctor Ethan! Ethan’s demonstrations are useful and I learned a lot for wellness.
You should check out his YouTube out and give the Dr a subscribe over here! β‘οΈ #DoctorEthanScience
Finally, Iβve seen some videos with the same niche as mine. Well done doc!

Dr Matt, Thank you for the excellent and enlightening nutritional presentation. Regards, I.K

Dr.Mike is amazing and he is having great knowledge. I really loved his video.
This video is instructional! I’ve been trying to search for a YouTube vid that really explains the stuff in this vid! π§ββοΈYour vid is like the channel from Dr Ethan. Doctor Ethan’s videos are totally insightful and he actually helped me on diet! He is an insightful Dr in the UK and he talks about diabetes and vitamins!
Go see his page out and give the med student a subscribe here! β‘οΈ #DrEthanOnline
