MYFITNESSPAL AND APPLE WATCH (PART TWO – HOW TO CONNECT APPLE WATCH EXERCISE CALORIES TO MYFITNESSPAL) // If you have an Apple Watch and use MyFitnessPal, you might be wondering how you can transfer your exercise data over to the calorie tracking app.
In this video, I show you how to sync your Apple Watch exercise calories to MyFitnessPal.
However, I also explain a reason why you may not want to do this if you’re trying to lose weight faster.

Really helpful and thanks for the clear explanations!
How come the steps on the Fitness app do not match up to the steps shown in the health app? My health app says I took over 2000 steps but the fitness app says I took 800
I was excited about step tracking that I allowed it to sync with my Activity app during the video, then removed it at the end of the video haha thanks for this info!!
It only shows my steps from my apple watch and not my workouts! Everything is “allowed” in the health app.
I always ignore the one on the far right because it’s so off like you said
thank you so much!!!
I am considering moving to Apple from Fitbit. I don’t necessarily need the functions of an Apple Watch but the Fitbit has not been tracking my heart rate and calories burned correctly. With that being said, is there a better option to track cals in vs cals out that is similar to Fitbit that doesn’t cause the issues of my fitness pal?
Lol The video was helpful, myfitnesspal, not so much. I watched both your videos, only to end at the conclusion of doing what I was already doing. I was ALREADY tracking my food with myfitnesspal while tracking calories spent with the apple activity app and comparing the two from separate apps. Then I got some idea in my head that i could sync the two together somehow, went on youtube to learn this, and now have come full circle back to where I have started.
But thanks to you, at least I can put it to rest. Thanks.
That was very helpful! 😍
Going to give it a try
So that makes sense why I didn’t lose my 2 pounds the week thank you!!!! So do I just turn the off in the health app to stop tracking my exercise???
This didn’t work. When I tap on "settings" I get a pop-up (from the bottomo) telling me to make the changes through the Apple App on my phone. So when I do that and toggle everything on, it still doesn’t sync.
Had a Fitbit and recently got an Apple watch so this video really helped clarify things. Must say data is way easier and accurate to read with the Fitbit
The workouts never did sync for me 😢
I originally hit "don’t allow" on my Health app, and it is saying there are no devices connected. Any help?
Mine didn’t work. The settings are all turned on and it still doesn’t do anything.
Thank you for doing this. One of the things I like about the MyFitnessPal app is the ability to scan barcodes to log food intake. MyFitnessPal on the watch doesn’t (which I assume is because there is no camera LOL). Can you suggest something that makes food logging easy on the watch? Thank you again!
🙏🏼 thanks!
So is there a better app than MFP ? It sounds like the app is not that great. I have been doing the deficit thing wrong as you mentioned in this video.
I did everything you said and it’s still not syncing.🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
thank you so much
Thank you so much! I could t figure out why my watch and MFP wasn’t syncing right!
This isn’t work for me!! Everything is toggled on, but it doesn’t connect!!
Hey, do I put the total calorie burned manually into my fitness pal ?
Settings doesn’t open up when I tap it.
My phone is Different
Great videos thanks! My macronutrients (first screen on the Apple Watch app) are still not displaying though, and I use mL for water instead of oz on the app, yet the watch still shows oz – know any reason for these? Cheers 🙂
Really helpful. I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app today, synced the apple watch and noticed that it wasn’t counting all my calories burned. Thanks for clarifying and suggesting the work around!
this didnt help at all
I’m trying to lose belly I’m skinny all over except my stomach , I’m 5ft5 and a half of Indian descent female 23 how much calories would I need to lose fat? I do workout 3/4 times a week mostly like dance/HIIT workouts
Lots of good information!!!
Wow this is exactly what I was looking for you are amazing
Nice vid bro. Just my input, it’s ok to eat back those exercise calories. My fitness pal is designed to already put you in a deficit before you factor in exercise. So if you eat just that 1600 calories & don’t eat back any of the 755 exercise calories, you will be in an extreme deficit.
Super helpful, thanks so much!!!
I never eat the calories back. What i usually have set in MFP is my Goal for the day for my specific goal. All i do is compare the my goal calories to the overall calories on my apple watch (tracked the discrepancy of the ApW for 3 Weeks with a scale before to determin), works like a charm. If you wanna do it tho gonna have to spend some time tracking the dicrepany of the Apple watch to your actual caloric balance, no way around it really.
Since the latest update it does not appear to work anymore, MFP won’t sync with health.
It worked for a while few months ago but now it won’t take any information from my Apple Watch on MyFitnessPal. And on MyFitnessPal, it says that 0 apps are connected to it while the health app is activated for MyFitnessPal. Do you have any clue ?
This was super helpful and it made MFP calorie tracking of my workouts while trying to lose weight make perfect sense. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
I have SO many issues with MyFitnessPal. I used to use my Fitbit to track everything it I have been considering getting an Apple Watch as my Fitbit is no longer putting my workouts into MyFitnessPal.
Thank you for this video! It has definitely helped me make a better decision on if I want an Apple Watch or not.
Thank you this has been bugging me all week trying to figure out how to sync workouts with MFP
My watch and app will not sync. I can’t get the calories burned to show up. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😑
Has my fitness pal fixed the adding calories when linked watch excersises ?
I think that the fact they indicate this calories remain because of the exercice is good because if you want to create a calorie deficit of for example 300 calories a day you’ll know you have to stop at 300 remaining calories. The best though would be that they add this "wanted calorie deficit per day" option.
Thank you for the info! I’m convinced to keep exercise separate now.
Still buggy. They can’t get it to work many years later. Sad
