New U.S. diet guidelines ignore science on sugar and alcohol

New federal dietary guidelines released Tuesday ignore advice from the government’s own scientific advisors who say the recommended limits for sugar and alcohol intake should be lower. Northwell Health Nutritionist and Program Director Sharon Zarabi joins CBS News correspondent Omar Villafranca with more on the updated guidelines and the new recommendations for mothers and babies.

Processed food is designed to make people unhealthy, so that they have to bankrupt themselves paying medical bills.

Classic lobbying pressures which kills the masses for money. America is once again very broken…
These guidelines are meant to educate the public and help increase health hazards. Instead, they shove crap down the Masse’s throats. Absolutely criminal!

As long as we have 10 fast food restaurants in a small town! As long as we have leaders who don’t even touch upon health and wellness! As long as we make jokes about people’s weight! As long as we treat sports for kids as chance to win over a chance to exercise and learn about our bodies! As long as we don’t discuss seriously how bad Covid has been for us because we are unhealthy! As long as grocery stores have 100 choices of sugary cereals! As long as communities don’t care about bike paths or walking paths! As long as we have to work ourselves to death to pay our bills! You have to be one tough and determined person to fight for your health and wellness!

I’m a little confused. So we are consuming about 13% of calories from sugar, the science says we should consume less than 6% and the new current guidelines are suggesting we should consume less than 10%?

The guidelines do not encourage whole dairy: it has to be low fat or a fake vegan plant infusion. The body does not care if the sugar is "added" or not. If they grind down some fruit, it’s the same fructose that goes to the liver.

How many times does she say, “… as a dietitian …” or the like? If you actually are an expert, you don’t need to qualify your expertise. Dr. Fauci, he’s an expert, doesn’t need to say it.

So what you’re telling me is … sorry, you lost me at … somewhere near the beginning of the diatribe in stereo.

Less sugar, less alcohol, more veggies, got it. And then you’re saying, as an expert … oh, snicker, they’re so old and stupid, I’m denying the fact that I’m practically middle aged, insert “dad joke,” ignore the fact that you know many skinny fried chicken three times a day alcoholics, I’m just telling you here and on my Tinder profile, “No, no, no, only looking for a serious relationship but I’m pansexual, non-binary, LGBT friendly but totally straight ….”

I’m a film and television actor. Our meals are catered, and super healthy, despite all you can eat. That’s because actual chefs, people who will tell you that your omelette choices are unhealthy to your fat face at 6am on a Sunday even if you’re John Goodman, make us healthy food.

What we really need is not some whiney millennial nutritionists, but actual experts in food to tell us what is proper food for a human being and how to make it.

The more junk and unhealthy food you eat! The more prescription drugs they can sell you! People are so over weight from eating so much sugar and salt, sugar drinks, and NO exercise!!
The children eat the way the parents eat and over weight also! It’s about the money in our country!

  48. RIXRADvidz on April 14, 2022 at 6:50 pm

the 5/2 diet works really well, for 5 days you eat regularly, trying to make good food decisions, and then for 2 days you limit your calorie intake to less than 500. it’s amazing how much food you can have for under 500 calories for the whole day, you won’t starve, but you will reduce your intake and your waistline.

Hooray for rejecting the advisory panel on alcohol and sugar. For 50 years we’ve been advised that two drinks for men one for women is fine. Now based one one big study from the UK which I thought was inconclusive and agenda driven the scientific panel says men and women should consume the same amount. One drink. I’m glad someone stepped in and rejected the advisory panel. Leave us something we can enjoy in moderation.
