What’s the most transformative thing that you can do for your brain today? Exercise! says neuroscientist Wendy Suzuki. Get inspired to go to the gym as Suzuki discusses the science of how working out boosts your mood and memory — and protects your brain against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

    its very strange that doing physical labor doesnt help, but ‘working out’ does. doesnt that mean i can just trick my brain somehow into the same thing seeing as the actual physicality seems to be irrelevant?

    I am suffering from long haulers. The brain fog caused more anxiety, poor memory, and lack of motivation. Softball season started in April and after the first practice felt much better. After a couple practices realized that over the winter the exercise disappeared. Have started working out with 10 pound weights and slowly feeling much better. Thanks for sharing.

    Exercise helps to some extent but it’s not really the solution. When it comes to mind, there is only one way you can manage your mind: meditation. This is the most effective and extremely transformative than anything else you can think, and if you do yoga along with meditation it will be much more effective in managing the mind.

    I have started working out really regularly for two weeks and emotionally I am in a much better state. I started it aiming fo a stronger mind, for greater determination (I could be a quitter) and simply to be a better person. I am feeling it and I agree it’s the good mood that drives me to exercise every day.

    In 2019, I suffered severe brain stroke during my workout in the gym. However, according to a neurological team it was my fitness that helped me to bounce back at almost 100% capacity. I haven’t stop training since. This video underscores what I have been and am experiencing … exercise is good for your brain.

    I often do a kind of workout that is a mix of aerobics, calisthenics, and choreography following symphonic metal music, Nightwish and Within Temptation being the best for my ears.

    I’m all in for creating neurogenesis and one of my hobbies is practicing mental math calculations;
    So now I will do my crazy dance while doing mental multiplications of 3 digit numbers. I am a weird guy, so mental calculations are fun for me.

    So, my upgraded version of Wendy’s workout from 11:23 on will be with Nightwish/Within Temptation/The Hu music, I will do energetic choreographic moves following the music ( the aerobic party), at the same time I will contract and relax muscles (the calisthenics part) and I will scream all the steps of a mental multiplication of a 3 digit number by another 3 d. number, which is an extra addition to stimulate further the neurogenesis.

    Yes, people who know me think I am a weird guy. But being a grandpa of a College student my BMI is 23, the same as when I was 18. I haven’t used any pharmaceutical products for over 40 years, I practice intermittent fasting and have my own organic veggie garden.
    Anyone wanting to talk more about my lifestyle just go to the Community part of my YT page, this video will be linked there with this comment under it.
