A recent study had a lot of negative things to say about diet sodas, but how seriously should we take that study? Observational research can be powerful and useful, but it can also lead to shaky outcomes. So, what does this study tell us about some of the limitations in how research is done?

It might not kill you right away that is why FDA approves it. Only the tests submitted were from the producers of aspartame not a bias company. Over a period of time people very often admit to drinking more then 2 liters of diet soda a day every day, it is an addictive product and it does not quench your thirst ut makes you more thirsty.
Do you even know where aspartame was derived from ? Aspartame is know to do many damaging things to internal orgines. Aspartame is is pure poison. Avoid aspartame at all costs ! Many other artificial sweeteners over the years have been pulled off the market because of cancer causing ! Drink purified water with pure lemon no calories and it is actually good for you !

I decided a long time ago that when "studies" are quoted as support of an argument that usually the studies need to be studied to fully understand the real implication.
I lost 90 pounds in 4 months dieting and drink an insane amount of diet soda probably 6 cans a day and I’m very healthy now
I dint want to watch but did he ever adress how the sweetness tricks ur body into releasing insulin in preparation for the sugar and calories which never arrives bc its diet and how that can lead to metabolic syndrome??

For me the core issue is whether or not aspartame does or doesn’t disrupt the microbiota in our digestive system, causing issues like insulin resistance.

I don’t believe diet soda is all that bad for you. Most people’s main problem is way too many carbs, way too much snacking throughout the day. Every time you put food in your mouth, your insulin spikes. Every time you eat excessive carbs, your insulin spikes. Intermittent fasting, eating twice a day perhaps on a 16/8 ratio, with no snacking in between will cut your insulin spikes to twice a day. Next, you’ve got to cut carbs to control hunger. You will be amazed how you aren’t hungry when you limit carbs. I don’t like Keto, I think it is too restrictive, but I do like limiting carbs and only getting them from fruits and vegetables.

I think you are that kind of scientists who are being used by the big companies and get paid to counter attack any study that shows their products are bad for consumers.

I consume diet soda to curb cravings while on cut and bulk phases of my bodybuilding. It’s definitely a game changer.

The pros and cons of diet vs. Regular soda you might as well drink regular cold soda instead of that diet crap looks taste like crap
With my chronic illness (ME/CFS) I am unable to tolerate alcohol, wheat, or dairy, let alone smoking or pot. Diet coke is my only vice but I’m also terrified it’s causing serious neurological problems. I have gone long periods without it with no benefit (mainly because I was in a foreign country without it and I don’t like their version.) I don’t have weight problems, and my blood pressure is low. I feel GOOD when I drink it, (maybe because I’m getting my fix) not bad, and it’s something to look forward to when I eat a healthy diet and have given up a lot of things. I also make sure to drink a lot of water. But I have been drinking basically from my mother’s milk and am now in my 30s so I also feel if it’s messing me up I’m basically doomed. Every blog about my disease that mentions diet sodas tells me to give it up, but with no proper research or studies on anything besides potential weight gain.
Also if anyone needs a subject for research those of us with chronic fatigue and chronic illness are so grateful for all the help we can get! We get hyped about new studies and scientists who research in our area are heroes to us. Long Covid organizations are teaming up with ME/CFS organizations more research money is available!

Diet soda is terrible for you. It’s not difficult to figure out putting chemicals in your body is not good.
