I know this video is old, maybe you’ve even moved already, and it’s just an odd comment, but my kitchen’s cupboard’s are the same style as yours. Makes me feel like a cool kid! lol
Well done! I’m a registered dietitian and am impressed with how you handled this question. There is no perfect diet for any one and on any given day. What’s good for one might not be right for another (for many varying and unique reasons). 🙂
Diet is 80% and fitness 20%
As someone who is recovered from an eating disorder, it took some courage to watch this video because I didn’t want to be triggered by what you would say but having worked hard over the past years, I told myself I could listen to any advice with filters and just enjoy your energy and presence…. but to hear you say something so loving and careful like "listen" and other mantras in "mindful eating"…. oh! it just touched my heart! THANK YOU for these videos and VLOGS. I am on my second 30 day journey now, started with Breath and no on Dedicate, and I am attempting to go for the full year, thank you for your mindful response.

Adriene !!! Go vegan my love!!!! Check out the effects of eggs and dairy industry. Don’t put a blind eye to the suffering. I know you love deeply and have a huge heart. You can substitute anything with vegan alternatives. Being vegetarian isn’t enough to stop the suffering. Even back yard eggs can be super harmful because it contributes to male chicks being killed within their first minutes of life. Please consider it my love. #veganfortheanimals
Love this! I learned about Intuitive eating in recovery from an eating disorder. It is all about listening to your body. I love the saying "find what feels good" I think we are told way too much about how we "should" eat that we forget to listen to our bodies. I also love that you emphasize that we are all individual and to find what works for us. Thanks for your videos, I especially love Yoga Flow! It’s my fav! I would love more flow videos like it. Thanks again!

Hey lady! Is there a video on nutrition or did that never get made?? I would love to hear from you. There is so much confusing information out there and coming from a past eating disorder I have a really hard time trusting myself… My ED voice sometimes wins.

I love your place and your dog. So adorable! I do your yoga workout videos and I always refer your workouts to other people if they do not know where to turn to for yoga. I get great feedback about your workouts. I get feedback saying you are thorough, fun, easy to follow, and listen to. Also, you have a great personality. Keep it up! I am wellness major going into Dietetics and Nutrition and wanting to get my Yoga Alliance certification in the future. Adriene, I love all of your yoga videos. Your voice is amazing and I really like your personality. You seem to be very grounded and heart-centered. I don’t know how aware you are these days of the growing vegan movement, but as an advocate for the movement I feel obligated to give you a little heads up before you do the diet video. I would like to recommend you watch the documentaries Cowspiracy, Speciecism, Earthlings, Forks Over Knives, and Vegicated before doing it. Food is already a sensitive subject for most people, but now that this relatively new information is coming to light, the topic is even more sensitive, especially within yoga communities. If the information about animal agriculture hasn’t reached you yet (and I can’t imagine how it hasn’t) then I’m sure you will know exactly what to do when it does. I’m sure you will be guided to say exactly what needs to be said in the food video. Listening to our bodies is great advice, but listening to our hearts is even better, and once we know the truth about where our food comes from, our hearts will guide us towards veganism without fail. Adriene your videos inspire so much positivity and happiness within me. I suffered from anorexia nervosa for a long, long time and decided to take up yoga a few monthd ago. Not only has it improved my flexibility, my stamina, my strength and general health but I can now love my body and believe it in. I love my body for these things it allows me to do and I cannot thank you enough for your guidance and happiness and positivity. You lit a spark in me which I haven’t felt in a long time. Thank you x

Consider going vegan! Listening to your body is good, but yoga is about the universal. Following the path of ahimsa opens one up to so much higher energy. Namaste.

I know this is sooo 5 years ago but… still relevant. So I took your advice this week and payed attention to what I was putting in my body and how it made me feel.
Most of the week I ate pretty clean, almost no meat product lots of veggies and fruits some dairy protein I can’t say i noticed anything different until!
Last night I was in the mood for a burger for some reason. I don’t ever really eat much red meat but last night I did it. Didn’t eat a bun, just grass fed beef mushrooms and Gorgonzola. Within 15 minutes I felt so cruddy and tired. I was so lethargic didn’t want to do anything
The worst part. I felt so bad and tired that I had to skip my Yoga With Adriene practice for fear of injury if I even tried to power through it.
Anyone paying attention to this just know how important it is to eat what makes you feel good. I’m back on it today food wise and I’ll see you on the mat tonight.

On slowing down and paying attention: I didn’t keep it up, but for a while I tried to chew every bite 32 times. During that time I ate a McDonald’s cheeseburger. Wow. These things don’t work unless you wolf them. By about half way through, it barely seemed like food at all – which it isn’t, really.
