Stop juicing beets. The fiber and all else is there for a reason. It automatically makes you limit how much beet you eat.
You can easily get avitaminosis which includes nasty effects like confusion. You won’t even notice it from your pov but you will make really stupid decisions. It will also sap energy.
Beetroot crystals and powder? what kind of insanity is this!? This couldn’t be further from nutrition!.
Have a whole beet in salad : finely shred apples/carrots/beets in a 3/2/1 mass ratio for a delicious way to enjoy raw beets and get all the benefits. It tastes really good even omnivores will enjoy the taste.
Stay off powders…

Definitely my favorite veggie. Cool to know they have so many other benefits. But yes…you definitely need to remember you had beets yesterday when you go to the washroom…it’s scary when you forget. Lol.

I have to be honest. The beer crystals didn’t do anything for me. I enjoy this guy’s content so I’m not trying to be a jerk. I’m not doubting the health benefits of beets, but the beet supplements in my opinion are a scam.
simply love your videos.so many informations, fun to watch and easy to understand. However I have to say that i have not found a tasty beetroot recipe.I simply cannot stand the taste of them… Do you have some ideas how i can prepare them? (sauces, dressings, another ways,…) 🥰

I love beets I eat 3 beets 5 days a week.. try pouring some lemon juice on a plate, sprinkle black pepper on the plate and a table spoon of habanero hot sauce mix it a little with a fork then cut your steamed beets on the plate, by far my favorite way to eat them! all the beet juice bleeds into the habanero lemon pepper mix as you cut them
been using beets for years for workouts and events. track, basketball and cycling 🚴but don’t consume too much too fast or u will be going to the bathroom 🤣🤣🤣

Hey Derek, so I typically wake up at 5am to work out in the morning before work at 8am, So I usually start working out at 6 after I run my dog. If I were to drink the beet root crystals right when I wake up will I still get the benefits during my work out? Or would that be too early?
hi derek, I have a question about bloating. Do you think eating spicy food can prevent you from getting into a relaxed state and thus not digesting food properly which leads to fermentation? Just a theory because I like spicy food and still have problems with bloating/gassiness even after incorporating your tips. Thx!
Yeah the bathroom thing definitely got me the first time lol was kinda freaking out then I realized it was the beets. I like to juice them cause I’m not a huge fan of the taste so I can easily add apples and carrots to make it easier to drink.
Got some powder, will see how it goes. Also got some fennel seeds, chewing some seems to increase NO in the studies. But it seems the bacteria in your mouth seems to act to make the NO. So it would be better to take it without mouthwashing and in a way that allows the bacteria the access it. If you swallow hole quickly, it might not be as effective.
What about raw beets? I put a medium beet in my smoothie every day. I’m not working out at a gym trying to get a pump. I’m just doing physical labor. I want to know the effects on arterial health. Oh…and arugula is the king of nitric oxide.

you got me into beetroot about a year ago now, thanks mate! I used to mix it with apple juice to make it more palatable but now I have it uncut now lol. Apple + beetroot is still a killer combo though.

I drink two cups of beet juice every day. I mix it with V-8 or tomato juice because the extra sweet taste of beet juice puts me off. I drink it for overall health. I use a pre-workout with l-citruline for nitric oxides before exercising. I’m into cycling.

I tried drinking beet root juice before my workouts and didn’t notice a difference… because I was drinking it about a half hour before😅 I literally saw this and went ooooooh😲I will try it again! and luckily for me caffeine makes me sick if it’s much more than a cup of tea so I avoid it so I don’t have to worry about the interaction👍
this is just speculation, but do you think that because of the bacteria that help us convert nitrates living in our mouth, do you think that brushing and swishing with harsh chemicals, might be a contributing factor to heart disease? bc less nitric oxide for arterial health?

If I’m taking capsules of beetroot powder will that still work. Each capsule is 1000 mg of beet root.
Definitely find that beetroot makes a difference on run days (even speedier effort days). I generally put a teaspoon of powder in my morning porridge and grab a run 2-3 hours later.

mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, but if you have beetroot before workout, you is the powerhouse of the gym.
nothing beats fresh pressed beets lol especially in combination with watermelon juice…pure energy and power 💪🏽takes about 30 -45 mins to kick in for me

Hi Derek. Great informative video, thanks. This is my first time ever writing to someone on YouTube, i hope I do it right. I’m a Brit, in China, Mid 50’s, with hypertension and diabetes. I generally get to the gym at least three times a week, just doing Super Sets 5X5. However, Covid has had me locked down since Feb 14th. Question, please, I was told that, being a diabetic, it would be better to eat beets because you get the fiber (juicing = no fiber), and the best way to cook them was to steam – no longer than 15 minutes. How do you feel about this? Cheers. Ray.
